Load Bearing Foundations and Permanent Retaining Walls
Steel sheet piling can be combined to form small diameter closed boxes that can accommodate the construction of load bearing foundations and/or retaining walls. Originally developed for use as a support system for motorway sign gantries, the concept has also been used to create foundation piles for bridges, retaining walls and isolation barriers/enclosures.
Temporary Works
Steel sheet piling is often the first choice for construction projects where a supported excavation is required. The fundamental ease of use that steel offers is easily incorporated as a strategic building system in temporary works situations. The flexibility to extract and re-use sheet piles makes them an effective product in many design and construction situations/environments. In many instances, significant cost reductions and overall program savings can be realized by designing the temporary sheet pile structure as the permanent works.
